Soccer : This is my little slice of physical activity heaven. I happen to be one of those few American's who happen to enjoy playing soccer and China's been a great place to play. The people are pretty relaxed and the games are a great way to relieve the stress of SAP..:-) I guess the only downside of playing soccer all the time here is that I'm reminded on a weekly basis that I'm always getting older, fatter, and slower than the younger guys..hehehe

EmilyAtSchool : This is just a collection of all of the photos that showed Emily with her Pre-School in Beijing. It was really nice to see her come out of her shell after meeting new friends. She is pretty lucky because they get to do a little of everything in this school. Well, everything except learn English..:-) So along those lines, these pictures are a little of everything from class time, to her Birthday at school, to swimming, and some of the other shows that they put on.

Vietnam : These are shots of the Vu family on holiday in Vietnam for Christmas 2006 and New Years 2007. We visited grandma's hotel and beach Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau. Emily had a good time at the beach and the natural hot springs around Vung Tau. Unfortunately the beach was in horrible shape because of the Typhoon or Hurricane Durian that hit a few weeks before our visit. We also made a half-day drive to Na Trang which is another Vietnamese Beach Town a half day away from Ho Chi Minh City. That was where Emily went on the new rides.

Sarah, Emily, myself and some close friends help paint the Pooh background and Eyor for Pin the Tail on the Donkey. She got alot of great presents and all the kids seem to have a great time. Thanks so much for all of you that came.

Kid'sHalloween2006 : Sarah held a Halloween party for Emily and her friends. There were plenty of cute kids, costumes, and candy. We had a pumpkin carving contest and Emily won... No no we did not rig it so she would win.:-) After that there was a 'bobbing for apples' contest and Evana won.

TeamOuting_LiJiang : This gallery is from the China Net Process and Tools Team's trip down south to LiJiang. We spent 3 days seeing something different from Beijing and boy was it DIFFERENT. The altitude was higher I think we were at 1500 meters so it was bloody cold, but the trade-off was that I didn't sweat like a pig..:-)

The first day we spent walking through Old Town LiJiang. It was pretty neat because there was a very extensive network of canals running through it to give very natural feel. Very different from the Beijing urban jungle. Very nice buildings, lots of shopping for the WOMEN, fresh air, and CLEAR water. What a difference from the green sludge we call water in the Beijing water ways.

The second day was spent going up to Jade Mountain and boy did we go UP!!! We drove from our hotel, stop at a local watering hole to ride some Yaks, that's right Yaks..:-) Then we took a cable care ride up to 4500 meters and then hiked up to 4680 meters. I didn't realize 180 meters change in elevation made such a huge difference. Even my peasize brain was hurting for air after that little hike up 180 meters. The views were spectacular, but since it was a little cloudy some of the shots didn't do it justice.

The last day we spent driving to Leaping Tiger Gorge. It was a nice hike, but it was kind of frustrating because every few hundred meters you'll hear someone see "watch out for falling rocks!!!" either in Chinese or English. But it was a very relaxing walk and the scenery was great.

Ok, I lied..:-) We had one last half day where some of us went to another destination 'Old Town' for some last minute sightseeing and shopping.

India : These shots were taken when I was supposed to be working hard at learning SAP. As you can see I spent alot of time hitting the books on SAP so that Nokia can get the best value from me..:-) Most of the shots were taken when we took a day trip to Agra to see the Taj. It was really nice, alot different than on T.V. and post cards. The only bad thing was the ride there it was long and harrowing. Only place that made me more scared of being driven around than Beijing. These phots were combined from 3 people's cameras so it's a little disconbobulated..:-)

GreatWall-Simatai : These shots were taken over a 2 day period. Our good friends Frank and Sammy were nice enough to invite us on a road trip with them in their car. The only name I remember from the trip was the Simatai part of the Great Wall hence the name of this gallery. But we also stopped by some peach farms and took some pics and then did a hike through some hills, sorry I forgot the name. It was a pretty fun trip even with Emily's grumpy face..:-)

Laos3 : This gallery is from shots taken of Laos on our final 2 days. We were north of the capital in Vienvang. It was a very small town, but it must be pretty popular with tourist because I saw alot of Europeans and Aussies there. So memorable shots were taken of our little hike up a hill to a popular cave where locals said that monks used to stay. There were alot of natural rock formations that Laos people said were symbols of Budha. The final shots of Laos were taken when we went down to the river to have lunch on a boat. This was when Emily and I got to watch Sarah eat some fried crickets and live river shrimp.

Laos2 : Laos2 are shots from our stay in the capital of Laos (Vientiane) and the start of our trip down to Pakse. In the capital, the family went to visit one of the most famouse Budhist Temples, its the one you're most likely to see on any tour info about Laos. It's so famous that I forgot the name.sorry.:-) After that are shots of the Laos version of the 'Arc de Triumph' or something along those lines. There weren't too many shots for it because it was dark and my Sony camera is crap at night and once the lights came on it was virtually impossible to find a spot without people getting in your way.

The latter photos of the group are from our trip down south towards Pakse. If you can remember from Laos1 I mentioned something about our van creaming a cow on the road..:-) Well, these pics were before that. We went down and saw our friend's home and then went to another pretty popular temple. The temple was pretty cool because it was never finished. I was told a story that the reason it was never finished is because all the workers left to help finish construction of a competing temple because that temple sent over women flashing their boobs..:-) True or not it's a damn good story. But it'll take a hell of alot more then some breasts to get me to work in that freaking heat..:-) Honestly though, the incompleted temple plus the natural surroundings made for a great visit. It was also not very crowded which made it even better. I hope you enjoy the shots.

OurFriendsFinallyVisit1 : Finally we had some friends take us up on our offer of free accomodations and visit us here in Beijing. Only problem was I was still working so Sarah had to play tour guide..:-) Here are some shots of her taking them to the Summer Palace. While they were here, they were also able to take advantage of a Nokia Trip to Beidahei(Beach) and see some parts of China other than Beijing. It was also the Vu family's first time out there ourselves and it was cool to see the start of the Great Wall of China. I guess the sea is where one end is and the frontier is another. Enjoy.

Phuket, Thailand2 : So in this set, the first 2 pages were a continuation of our little private boat ride to PhiPhi Island. It was pretty nice because the crew set up a little picnic by the beach for us to eat. Then we spent some time in the warm ocean. That was great, I've never felt the see so warm before. When we were down they took us to a little coral reef area to snorkel, but it was too dirty so we just fed the fish bread. Just before it was time to go back, the crew let us swim in where they filmed "The Beach". That was really cool because the water was so blue. Highlight of the trip was the water and getting to say PhiPhi all day..:-)

The rest of the pictures were of our second boat trip to some other islands around Phuket. It was not as cool because we just had a boat ride the day earlier. Still there were some great views of more islands, rivers, mangroves.. etc etc etc.. Highlight of the second trip was see James Bond Island. This was supposedly where "The Man With The Golden Gun" was filmed.

Laos1 : These pictures are from our first road trip within Laos. The pictures of the Falls were when we took a van ride down to the south of Laos and stayed around the major city Pakse. The ride was brutal, one way was 8+ hours long and the roads were crap. Speaking of crap good luck trying to take one unless you're at a gass station..:-) The highlights of the road trip were the falls and hitting a cow in the middle of the road right around the time the sun was going down. Then instead of sticking around, taking off once we saw that our van was still ok..:-)

It's a little mixed up but the other picturs of the rafting and stuff actually happened when we head to northern Laos to the city of Vingviang I thinkg?? The trip up north was not as long, it only took 4 hours one way. We stayed riverside on these great bungalows(flushing toilets WHOOPIE!!!) and rafted down the river as a group.

Phuket, Thailand1 : The first group of pictures taken from our holiday in Phuket Thailand. It was a grueling start from Beijing to Bangkok to Phuket. Pretty much 15+ hours of travel time so it was straight to bed when we got to the hotel. The next morning, we were off to PhiPhi Island on our own private boat. Emily was loving the boat ride and the ocean.

Emily's School Performance : These pictures were taken of the performance that Emily's school put on. It was kind of nice, but after a while I just wanted to start choking some of the parents who refused to sit their asses down in front. It was a whole bunch of performances rolled into the morning. First off was a sing and dance, then it was ballet, then it was Kung Fu, and finally the 3 Little Pigs skit. In between we got to see some of their teachers show off their Britney Spears and Christna Aguilera skills, be VERY thankful I didn't take any pictures of that. It was a nice way to round off Emily's first year of classes. Hope you enjoy them.
